Anurag Kashyap’s Nishaanchi Trailer Promises a Bollywood Masala Ride
The trailer of Nishaanchi has been unveiled, and it signals the arrival of a quintessential Bollywood entertainer. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film blends action, comedy, romance, betrayal, and the timeless emotion of ‘maa ka pyaar,’ while marking the Bollywood debut of Aaishvary Thackeray, grandson of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.
At the heart of the film is Aaishvary, stepping into a double role as twin brothers Babloo and Dabloo. Though identical in appearance, the two characters stand at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to values and choices. The story unfolds in the gritty bylanes of small-town Uttar Pradesh in the early 2000s, following the brothers as their worlds collide in a whirlwind of rebellion, family drama, and self-discovery.
The trailer teases high-octane drama with adrenaline-fueled chases, intense confrontations, as well as tender moments of love and longing. Its soundtrack pays homage to the nostalgic flavor of early 2000s Hindi cinema.
Calling Nishaanchi his most cinematic work, Anurag Kashyap shared, “Nishaanchi is my most cinematic film with a classic story at its centre… emotion, betrayal, action — everything I grew up loving in Hindi films.”
For Aaishvary, the project has been both challenging and personal. “Playing twins who are complete opposites challenged me in every way—emotionally, physically, and as an actor. At the same time, contributing to the music of the film was just as special. For me, acting and music are like Babloo and Dabloo—two distinct parts of my personality that balance and complete each other. I’m nervous, but also excited, to finally share this world with everyone. With Anurag sir guiding me through the journey, I discovered something new in every scene, every note,” he said.
Produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under the banners of Jar Pictures and Flip Films, Nishaanchi is presented by Amazon MGM Studios India. The cast also features Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra in pivotal roles. Co-written by Anurag Kashyap, Prasoon Mishra, and Ranjan Chandel, the film is slated for a theatrical release on September 19.
