Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat continues to show strong performance at the box office, holding steady even after its first week in theatres. Released on Diwali, the film faced stiff competition from Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma yet managed to carve out a significant audience base of its own.

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat earned ₹3.5 crore on Monday and ₹4.25 crore on Tuesday (day 8), bringing its total domestic collection to ₹49.25 crore. With this, the film is on the verge of crossing the ₹50 crore milestone.

While Thamma—starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui—has surged ahead with ₹95.6 crore so far, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has nonetheless proved to be a profitable venture. Produced on a modest budget of ₹25 crore, it has already doubled its investment in just eight days. The film has also surpassed the lifetime earnings of Harshvardhan Rane’s earlier hit Sanam Teri Kasam (₹42.28 crore).

Harshvardhan Rane recently took to thank his fans for their overwhelming support. During an interaction at a cinema screening the film, he said, “This Diwali, you supported the films of two outsiders. Ayushmann Khurrana’s film released along with mine. Watch both the films, please, and enjoy both. This sends a good message out, that aap logon ne akele poora ka poora Bollywood se nepotism hi khatm kar diya (you people alone have wiped out nepotism from Bollywood).”

He further added, “I hope you like it. And those of you in your family who haven’t watched it yet, please come again with them.”

Directed by Milap Zaveri, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat revolves around the story of politician Vikramaditya Bhonsle, whose life takes a dark turn after meeting Adaa Randhawa, a celebrated actor. What begins as a spark of attraction soon descends into obsession, offering audiences a rollercoaster of emotions.

Despite receiving mixed to negative reviews from critics—some of whom have pointed out its problematic themes and portrayal of toxic love—the film continues to draw viewers to theatres. Its steady box office run highlights the growing acceptance of smaller, character-driven dramas in the mainstream space, further establishing Harshvardhan Rane as one of the few self-made actors resonating with audiences today.
