FlixBus Expands Operations to South India, Connecting 33 Cities
FlixBus, a leading green mobility company based in Bavaria, has launched its bus services in South India, marking a significant expansion in the country. This development comes as part of the company’s broader strategy to revolutionize intercity travel with technology-driven solutions.
Co-founder of FlixBus, Daniel Krauss, stated that with this expansion, the company will now operate in 33 cities across South India and will have connected 101 cities nationwide. Operations in the region will commence on September 10, with the inaugural routes linking Bengaluru to 33 cities. These routes will include over 200 connections, such as Bengaluru to Chennai, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Madurai, Belgaum, and Chennai to Coimbatore.
Surya Khurana, Managing Director of FlixBus India, expressed optimism about the company’s growth in the region. “After the success of north India operations, expanding to South India is the next step in our journey to revolutionize intercity travel. We have received a positive response from customers and bus partners, reaffirming our belief in the power of our technology-driven model,” Khurana said.
The expansion is aimed not only at introducing new routes but also at empowering local bus operators by integrating them into FlixBus’s digital platform, which promises a seamless travel experience for passengers. This initiative is also aligned with the company’s commitment to promoting a more sustainable environment, Khurana added.
During a recent media conference, FlixBus officials announced further plans to introduce additional routes across key states in South India, including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala, in the near future.
