KFC available, but without meat in Ayodhya
Ayodhya strictly denies serving meat and liquor within the Panch Kosi Marg. The Panch Kosi Parikrama is a 15-km pilgrimage circuit around Ayodhya, visiting sacred sites linked to the Ramayana.
Businesses, in the food and hospitality sectors are hoping for a windfall as Ayodhya has transformed into one important religious destination, after the opening of the Ram Mandir in January.
All the western food outlets, be it Dominoz or Pizza Hut, are providing food in veg and the crowd is definitely high. Although the newly opened Pizza Hut is lamenting about the missed opportunity of not opening a shop near Ram Mandir, as the main crowd is at the Ram Path. KFC has started an unit at Ayodhya-Lucknow highway, but it's a fully veg affair. Few places like Pizza Hut even after being out of the Panch Kosi Marg has decided not to sell non veg in Ayodhya.
All the non veg food outlets have shifted outside 14 kosi Parikrama Marg. This rule isn't new, even Haridwar has a similar rule.
A food plaza will be set up at Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghat as per Ayodhya Development Authority's plan. With the growing number of tourists Haldiram and Bisleri are have also proposed to set up their units in and around Ayodhya.
