Music Maestro Ustad Rashid Khan bids Goodbye after a painful battle with Cancer

The music maestro Ustad Rashid Khan was suffering from prostate cancer and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kolkata. 

Khan was an Indian classical musician in the Hindustani music tradition. He belonged to the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana. 

"We tried our best but failed. The 55 year old passed away around 3:45pm today", an official of the private hospital where Khan was admitted stated. Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal said, "This is a great loss for the entire nation and the entire music fraternity. I am in immense pain, as I still can't believe that Ustad Rashid Khan is no more." 

Although he left the world, but the gems Ustad Rashid Khan produced through his voice will always remain eternal. May his soul rest in peace.
