Pritam Revives the Ghazal with ‘Zamaana Lage’ from Metro...In Dino, Netizens Call It “Magical”
Renowned music composer Pritam Chakraborty has set the tone for Anurag Basu’s upcoming film Metro...In Dino with its first track, Zamaana Lage, which was released on Wednesday, May 28. Drawing from the evocative poetry of Qaisar Ul Jafri, the track seeks to bring the classical charm of ghazals into a modern soundscape — and listeners are already hailing it as an emotional masterpiece.
Pritam described the song as “an attempt to revive the ghazal on Jafri's timeless poetry in a non-nostalgic way that was emotionally alive and relevant today.” The track, which blends Pritam’s signature composition style with the soulful vocals of Arijit Singh and Shashwat Singh, is inspired by Jafri’s evocative line, “Tumhaare sheher ka mausam bada suhana lage.” Additional lyrics for the track have been penned by Sandeep Shrivastava.
Explaining his approach, Pritam added, “With its rich history and timeless depth, we felt it doesn't always have to live in a classical soundscape. A ghazal can be pop — it can be modern in sound and structure, while still holding on to its poetic soul. That's what we've tried to do with this song: reimagine the ghazal for today's generation.”
The response from fans and listeners has been overwhelmingly positive, with social media abuzz with praise for the song’s emotional depth and fresh take on a classic form.
Social media users described Zamaana Lage as “mind-blowing” and praised the collaboration between Pritam and Arijit Singh, calling it “magical.” One fan wrote, “Bhai yeh kya bana diya. Magical,” while another remarked, “Anurag x Pritam = hearts. Terrific first track lands finally.”
Another user poetically noted, “Es song ko bhulane me bhi shayad zamana lage,” highlighting the song’s lingering emotional impact.
Fans have lauded the way the track transforms timeless poetry into a contemporary musical experience. One listener shared, “What a song…Ek poorane se evergreen poetry ko itne pyaare gaane mein badal diya. Zamaana lage sunke aisa laga jaise apne dard ki awaaz mil gayi ho.” Another added, “The melody is so enchanting; it’s hard not to get lost in its beauty.”
Listeners also singled out Arijit Singh’s vocals for special praise. “This song is just magical! Arijit’s voice and Pritam’s music are a perfect combo,” a user commented. Another noted, “Zamaana Lage really touches the heart and feels so relatable. Listening on loop—absolutely loved it!” A fan summed it up, saying, “Arijit Singh's voice in Zamaana Lage is pure magic — soulful and deeply emotional. Every word he sings feels like it's coming straight from the heart.”
