Selena Gomez Recalls an Embarrassing Yet Endearing Moment at Taylor Swift’s After-Party with Benny Blanco
Selena Gomez recently reflected on a lighthearted and slightly embarrassing moment she experienced alongside her fiancé, Benny Blanco, during an after-party hosted by Taylor Swift. The singer and actress, known for her close friendship with Swift, shared the anecdote during a recent episode of Spotify Countdown To Series.
An Unexpectedly Early Arrival
Gomez humorously recalled how she and Blanco unknowingly arrived at Swift’s gathering much earlier than expected. “As a couple, we went to Taylor’s party after some awards show,” she shared, adding with a laugh, “I don’t know, it was kind of cute. Apparently, cool people don’t show up to parties on time.”
Despite feeling "mortified" by their premature arrival, Gomez admitted that punctuality has become a habit for her and Blanco. “We’re the first people at every single party when I go with you,” she remarked.
Although the moment was a little embarrassing, it did nothing to shake Gomez’s strong bond with Swift. The Lover singer has remained a steadfast supporter of Gomez and Blanco’s relationship, even publicly celebrating their engagement in December. Swift also confirmed that she will play a special role in their wedding, revealing she will be the flower girl.
A Private Beginning and a Musical Journey
During the episode, Gomez also opened up about the early days of her romance with Blanco, describing how their relationship flourished in the privacy of their home in California, which they now share. “We kept our… whatever it was—relationship or getting to know each other—in privacy. And [our home] is where we first started connecting, where we had our first kiss, and where we made the album.”
The couple is now set to release their joint album, I Said I Love You First, on March 21. Reflecting on the experience of working on music together, Blanco described how creating the album in their home studio allowed for a deeper emotional connection. He revealed that the setting provided Gomez with the space to be more vulnerable, something that is evident in the album’s heartfelt lyrics.
“I felt like your personal journal. I was constantly writing whatever you said, wherever we are,” Blanco shared. “I don’t know if you realized, but I would always open up my phone and be like, ‘F**k, that’s such a good line for a song.’”
With their love story woven into their music, fans eagerly anticipate the release of I Said I Love You First, which promises to showcase both their romantic and creative connection.
