Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office Collection Day 8: Aamir Khan’s Film Nears ₹100 Crore Milestone
Aamir Khan’s latest release Sitaare Zameen Par continues its steady run at the Indian box office. The sports comedy-drama has made a notable impact in its first week, nearing the ₹100 crore mark with encouraging audience response.
According to a report by Sacnilk, the film collected ₹94.95 crore in its opening week. On its eighth day, Friday, the movie earned ₹6.05 crore, as per early estimates. The Aamir Khan-starrer had already amassed ₹88.9 crore in its first seven days, and the numbers suggest that it will comfortably cross the ₹100 crore mark by the end of its second weekend.
Notably, Sitaare Zameen Par has now surpassed the lifetime Indian collection of Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2, which ended its theatrical run at ₹92.53 crore.
Aamir took a unique route with this release by opting for an exclusive theatrical debut, with no accompanying OTT release plan—an unconventional strategy that appears to be working in the film’s favor.
The film is a Hindi adaptation of the Spanish hit Campeones, and it stars Aamir as a basketball coach who trains a team of players with special needs. It marks the debut of ten fresh faces including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. Genelia D’Souza also plays a pivotal role.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, director RS Prasanna reflected on his experience working with the superstar. “The most surprising thing about Aamir sir is that he is a legend who behaves like a newcomer, and you have newcomers who behave like legends. For me, it was just like how I connected with Ayush (Ayushmann Khurrana) and Bhumi (Pednekar). I was a first-time director (in Shubh Mangal Savdhaan), and they made me feel comfortable. The same is with Aamir sir,” he said.
With strong word-of-mouth and a socially relevant storyline, Sitaare Zameen Par is not only performing well commercially but is also striking an emotional chord with audiences across the country.
