Veteran Actor Govinda Recovering After Accidental Firearm Injury in Mumbai
Veteran actor Govinda was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday morning after an accidental mishap with his licensed revolver. The incident occurred while Govinda was cleaning his revolver, which allegedly slipped from his hands and discharged upon impact. The bullet grazed his leg, just below the knee. According to Dr. Agarwal from Criti Care Hospital, the actor sustained minor injuries, requiring "around 8-10 stitches" on his leg.
Dr. Agarwal further mentioned, "I think maximum couple of days, maybe do din mein (in two days)" when discussing Govinda’s potential discharge from the hospital. He added, "Jo ghutne hota hai usse do inch niche (Two inches below the knee)," when describing the location of the injury.
Govinda’s nephew, actor Krushna Abhishek, provided an update on the actor’s recovery, reassuring fans through his Instagram handle. "Mama is feeling better now. Thank you all for your prayers and love. Wishing him a speedy recovery. God is kind. Pls let your prayers keep pouring in," Krushna shared.
The accident left the film industry in shock, with fellow actors Arshad Warsi and Arbaaz Khan expressing their concern during the trailer launch of their upcoming film Bandaa Singh Chaudhary. Arshad Warsi commented, "Unfortunate hai… I mean very unfortunate aisa hona nahi chahiye," while Arbaaz Khan added, "What Arshad says is absolutely right ke bahut hi unfortunate incident hai."
Govinda himself shared an audio message with his fans, thanking them for their support and expressing gratitude toward the medical staff. "Hello, this is Govinda. With the blessings of my fans, my parents, and God, I am doing better now. I was hit by a bullet, which has now been removed. I thank the doctor here, Dr. Agarwal ji. I thank all of you for your prayers," he said in Hindi.
The incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning, according to Mumbai Police. Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, confirmed the details, stating, "Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata and was putting his licensed revolver back in the cupboard when it slipped from his hand, and the gun went off, hitting him in the leg." Sinha also confirmed that Govinda’s condition is stable, and the bullet has been removed.
Despite the incident, Govinda’s fans can take solace in the fact that the actor is on the road to recovery.
