'Why are you stealing all my directors?' - Varun Dhawan reacts to Abhishek Bachchan's new movie announcements
The lighthearted exchange between Varun Dhawan and Abhishek Bachchan discussing their renowned fathers was captured on camera and subsequently shared online.
Varun Dhawan and Abhishek Bachchan injected a playful vibe into the Amazon Prime Video slate announcement event in Mumbai on Tuesday. During the event, Abhishek Bachchan unveiled two films — one with Remo D’Souza titled "Be Happy," and another untitled project with filmmaker Shoojit Sircar. Following the announcement of Jr. Bachchan’s projects, Varun humorously questioned why he was "stealing" his directors, sparking a lively exchange between the two actors, which was captured on camera and shared online. Notably, Varun has previously collaborated with both Shoojit and Remo, starring in Remo’s "ABCD 2" (2015) and Shoojit’s "October" (2018).
Varun, who was hosting a segment at the event, warmly welcomed Abhishek onto the stage and playfully quipped, “Why are you stealing all my directors?” Abhishek, in a light-hearted tone, replied to Varun, saying, “You’re my inspiration. I want to be like you.” Their banter added an enjoyable touch to the event and was captured on camera for online sharing.
After Abhishek humorously referred to Varun as his “inspiration,” Varun jovially retorted, “That’s a lie. You are our inspiration,” prompting a light-hearted exchange between the two. In response, Abhishek teased Varun by saying, “Give me your directors or give me your dad (David Dhawan),” alluding to Varun's successful collaborations with directors Remo and Shoojit, contrasted with David Dhawan's commercial hits. Varun, keeping the banter alive, replied, “You give me your dad (Amitabh Bachchan), then,” leading to laughter from both. Their amusing interaction added a delightful touch to the event and was captured for online sharing.
Discussing his upcoming film featuring Abhishek, Shoojit remarked at the event, “I’ve always aimed to select stories from everyday life and transform ordinary characters into extraordinary ones. My films are about capturing moments that bring a smile to your face as you reflect on life. Each subject I've tackled resonates with me personally; I've encountered and lived alongside these characters, whether it's Dan from 'October.' This next project follows a similar vein, where I guarantee it will evoke warmth and resonate with audiences.”
