Advance Bookings for Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur’s Son of Sardaar 2 Open with 50% Discount Offer

The much-anticipated comedy entertainer Son of Sardaar 2, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, is all set to hit the big screen this Friday, 1 August. The film, which serves as a sequel to the 2012 hit Son of Sardaar, opened its advance bookings on Tuesday night, offering a special launch-day ticket discount to moviegoers.

Produced by Jio Studios, Son of Sardaar 2 was originally scheduled for a 25 July release but was later postponed to 1 August. In a move to attract audiences on opening day, the makers have announced a limited-time promotional offer on BookMyShow. “Laughter 100%. Ticket price 50%! Gather your full family and come watch #SonOfSardaar2. Use code SOS2 & get 50% OFF (T&C Applied),” the official announcement read. The discount applies when purchasing two tickets and offers a maximum benefit of ₹200.

The film arrives at the box office amidst stiff competition from two major titles — Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara and Ayan Mukerji’s upcoming War 2.

Saiyaara, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has been enjoying a stellar run since its release on 18 July. According to data from Sacnilk, the romantic musical drama opened to ₹21.50 crore net in India and ₹29.75 crore globally. The film has now crossed the ₹400 crore mark worldwide — an exceptional feat for a debutant-led cast.

Meanwhile, Son of Sardaar 2 will soon have to contend with another major release in the form of War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. Slated to release on 14 August, War 2 is among the most eagerly awaited films of the year and is expected to dominate screens across the country.

Despite the competitive release window, Son of Sardaar 2 is aiming to carve its own space among family audiences looking for a dose of slapstick comedy and lighthearted fun. The film marks a return to the comedic flavour of its predecessor and hopes to capitalise on the festive, crowd-friendly viewing experience.

Ajay Devgn’s last release, Raid 2, performed well at the box office, collecting ₹173.05 crore net in India and ₹237 crore worldwide. Whether Son of Sardaar 2 can replicate or surpass that success remains to be seen.
