Aneet Padda’s OTT Series Nyaya Set to Premiere; Shot Before Theatrical Hit Saiyaara
Riding high on the box office success of her theatrical debut Saiyaara, rising Gen Z star Aneet Padda is now gearing up for the release of her next project — an OTT series titled Nyaya. Directed by Nitya Mehra, best known for Baar Baar Dekho, and her husband Karan Kapadia, the series explores a dark and emotional story rooted in real-life events.
Interestingly, while Nyaya marks Aneet's foray into the digital space, industry insiders clarify that this move is not a shift in her career trajectory, but rather a result of the project’s earlier production timeline. According to sources, the show was filmed before she signed on for Saiyaara.
“Aneet is a big screen heroine for YRF. Nyaya was shot before she signed Saiyaara and it has no bearing on her career trajectory as a theatrical heroine going forward. A girl who is delivering probably a ₹400 crore hit in theatres, is a true Gen Z star at the age of just 22, will be preserved for theatricals. There are huge plans to make her the face of a generation and that can be achieved only by consolidating her theatrical equity,” a source revealed to HT Digital.
Despite speculation about her transition to OTT platforms following her cinematic debut, it’s clear that Yash Raj Films, the studio behind Saiyaara, envisions a much larger theatrical future for Aneet.
“Rumour has it that Aneet Padda's next will be an OTT release. Titled Nyaya, the series will be directed by Nitya Mehra of Baar Baar Dekho fame and her husband Karan Kapadia. While it could be a good project for any young actor to secure, Aneet fans might be disappointed that she is moving to streaming platforms after delivering a massive theatrical debut hit like Saiyaara. However, that is not the whole truth,” an insider clarified.
Nyaya is a fictionalised narrative based on true events and features a powerful ensemble cast including Fatima Sana Shaikh and Arjun Mathur. “The show was filmed last year and is now slated to premiere on a major OTT platform soon. It promises to be a gripping story about the complexities of faith and the law. Fatima plays a determined police officer, while Aneet takes on the gritty role of a 17-year-old girl fighting for justice after being sexually assaulted by a powerful spiritual leader,” reported PeepingMoon.com.
While Nyaya is expected to make waves on the digital front, it remains a standalone outing in Aneet’s early career — a performance that adds depth to her repertoire without disrupting her path as a leading lady on the silver screen.
