Angelina Jolie to Receive TIFF Tribute Award for Impact Media at 2024 Film Festival
Angelina Jolie, the acclaimed Hollywood actor and humanitarian, is set to be honored with the TIFF Tribute Award for Impact Media at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). According to a report by Variety, Jolie will be recognized for her outstanding contributions to cinema and her impactful humanitarian work at a special fundraising gala on September 8.
The award, presented by Anne-Marie Canning, acknowledges individuals who have made significant contributions to both the film industry and social causes. Previous recipients of the prestigious award include celebrated figures such as Pedro Almodóvar, Mira Nair, and Alanis Obomsawin.
Jolie, an Academy Award-winning actor, will be recognized alongside an esteemed group of honorees, including Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Durga Chew-Bose, David Cronenberg, Clément Ducol and Camille, Jharrel Jerome, Mike Leigh, and Zhao Tao. Sandra Oh will serve as the inaugural Honorary Chair of the fundraising gala.

"We’re honored to present her with the 2024 TIFF Tribute Award for Impact Media. This award recognizes her exceptional achievements in filmmaking and her unwavering commitment to positive change, solidifying her status as a veritable humanitarian and global force to be reckoned with," Bailey added.
In addition to receiving the award, Jolie’s latest film, Without Blood, will have its world premiere at the festival. Written, directed, and produced by Jolie, the war drama is based on the novel of the same name by Alessandro Baricco. The film tells the story of a girl’s quest for revenge and healing during a time of conflict, and stars Salma Hayek Pinault and Demián Bichir in lead roles.
Jolie's return to TIFF with Without Blood marks another milestone in her accomplished career, following the success of her previous films at the festival, including First They Killed My Father, which she wrote and directed, and The Breadwinner, which she executive produced. Both films were featured at TIFF in 2017.
