AP Dhillon-Tara Sutaria’s ‘Thodi Si Daaru’ Draws Mixed Reactions Over Alleged Resemblance to Shinchan Theme
Singer AP Dhillon and actor Tara Sutaria recently set the internet abuzz with the release of their new music video Thodi Si Daaru. While some social media users praised the duo’s on-screen chemistry, others were quick to point out that the track bears a striking resemblance to the Hindi theme song of the popular cartoon Shinchan.
The track, composed by AP Dhillon and Luca Mauti with lyrics by Shinda Kahlon, also features vocals by celebrated singer Shreya Ghoshal. The video gained additional attention due to the electric chemistry between AP and Tara, fueling further speculation about their rumoured relationship. The duo was recently spotted exiting a restaurant together, sparking dating rumours.
However, amid the fanfare, a section of internet users began drawing comparisons between Thodi Si Daaru and Mera Naam Bhi Shinchan Hai, the Hindi theme of Shinchan. One Instagram user shared a video comparing the two tracks, which quickly went viral. Comments began pouring in from all directions.
"Bas 19-20 ka farak hai ????," one user wrote, while another quipped, "Same same but different." Criticism also followed with a comment reading, "Shameful." A cheeky remark, "AP Chan," also made the rounds. Another added, "Definitely similar. For a fact even a legendary singer like @shreyaghoshal can't save a bad song like that." One more user remarked, "Every masterpiece has its own cheap copy."
Still, AP Dhillon’s fans were quick to defend him. "They are calling every other song copied," a user stated, while another shared, "I don't care, I love the song's vibes." A third chimed in, "Haters hates. Art goes on." One more user drew a broader comparison: "According to this, every 4x4 beat song are same. From 'All the Small Things' of Blink-182 to APT."
Tara Sutaria, who also starred recently alongside Ishaan Khatter in the track Pyaar Aata Hai—another Shreya Ghoshal number—was last seen in the thriller Apurva, co-starring Abhishek Banerjee and Rajpal Yadav, which is currently streaming on JioCinema. She was previously linked to the Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, though she later clarified via Instagram that she is not a part of the project.
Despite the criticism and comparisons, Thodi Si Daaru continues to trend online.
