'Citadel : Honey Bunny' teaser release-Priyanka Chopra hints to a special connection
Following the teaser release of "Citadel: Honey Bunny," Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have generated significant excitement for the upcoming spy thriller. Adding to the anticipation, Priyanka Chopra has hinted at special connections between the Indian show and her Hollywood series, "Citadel," where she starred alongside Richard Madden.
Priyanka used Instagram Stories to praise Varun and Samantha after the teaser release. "Raj and DK in full form," she wrote, reposting the teaser link, and adding, "VD and Samantha are incredible." She also hinted at a special link between the upcoming series and her version of "Citadel," encouraging fans to look for connections with her character, Nadia. “When you watch this series, look for connections with Nadia… bread crumbs all over Citadel, you just have to find them,” she shared.
The teaser, revealed on August 1 at a grand event in Mumbai, features the lead actors wielding massive guns. The show is set to premiere on November 7 this year. The clip showcases Samantha as Honey and Varun as Bunny, both playing spies. It opens with the nostalgic track "Raat Baaki Baat Baaki" and combines the thrill of a spy thriller with action-packed sequences and a touch of romance. Set against the vibrant backdrop of the 1990s, the teaser concludes with Samantha pointing a gun at Varun, sparking curiosity among viewers.
Directed by Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK), the show also features Kay Kay Menon, Simran, Saqib Saleem, Sikandar Kher, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Parihar, and Kashvi Majmundar.
The first season of "Citadel," starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra, along with Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville, was released in 2023. It became Prime Video’s second most-watched new Original series outside the US and the fourth most-watched worldwide within 24 days of its release. Executive produced by the Russo Brothers' AGBO, "Citadel" and its action-espionage spinoffs expand the story of the spy agency Citadel and its enemy syndicate, Manticore. Each new series will feature local talent and be produced and filmed in various regions, emphasizing strong cultural identities.
The Italian Original, "Citadel: Diana," will debut on October 10, followed by India’s series, "Citadel: Honey Bunny," on November 7. Production for the second season of "Citadel," starring Richard and Priyanka, will begin this year with Joe Russo directing.
