Folk Music Icon Sharda Sinha Passes Away, Leaving Behind a Lasting Legacy

Renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha, celebrated for her enduring contributions to Bihar's cultural music and heritage, has passed away after being in critical condition for several days. She was placed on ventilator support at AIIMS Delhi following her hospitalization shortly after the recent passing of her husband, Brajkishore Sinha, in September.

Her son, Anshuman, confirmed her death, sharing the family's sorrow and paying tribute to her as both a devoted mother and a revered artist. "She leaves behind a rich legacy that touched the hearts of many," he stated, emphasizing her impact on countless fans and the music industry.

Sharda Sinha, a 'Padma Bhushan' awardee, is best known for her Bhojpuri folk songs, especially those celebrating weddings and the festival of Chhath. She also recently lent her voice to "Nirmohiya," a song for the OTT series Maharani Season 2, showcasing her versatility and passion for culturally significant music.

Reports indicate that Sinha was profoundly affected by her husband's passing, which occurred shortly before her health began to decline. Earlier, her son Anshuman went live on his YouTube channel, where he disclosed her critical state, saying, "She is currently on ventilator support," and urged fans to keep her in their prayers.
