"It used to get really dark for me" says Divyendu - Opens up about not being a part of Mirzapur Season 3
Actor Divyenndu, known for his role as Munna Bhaiyya in the popular web series Mirzapur, has garnered immense popularity. Despite his acclaimed performance, fans were shocked by the character's demise in Season 2. In a recent interview with Humans Of Bombay, Divyenndu dashed hopes of his return in Season 3, citing the character's dark impact on his psyche as the reason for not reprising the role. This decision has left fans disappointed but underscores the actor's dedication to his well-being.
In his interview with Humans of Bombay, Divyenndu made it clear, stating, "I shall declare, I am not a part of Mirzapur Season 3. When I was embodying the character, it deeply affected my personality. We shouldn't romanticize delving too deeply into a role, as it's not easy. There were moments when it became overwhelmingly dark for me. I felt suffocated. It's a tricky situation where you don't even realize you're in that zone until you step out of it and see how dark it was."
Divyenndu portrayed a pivotal character in the political crime thriller series. The initial season premiered on Amazon Prime in 2018, followed by the second season in 2020. Although the third installment has been in development since June last year, fans can anticipate the show's long-awaited return with a new season this year.
In March, Amazon Prime officially announced the new season of Mirzapur during a grand event attended by the entire cast, including Divyenndu, along with Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rasika Duggal, and Shweta Tripathi Sharma, who play principal roles in the series.
On the professional front, Divyenndu's latest appearance was in the comedy film "Madgaon Express," co-starring Pratik Gandhi and Avinash Tiwary. The film garnered significant critical acclaim and achieved considerable commercial success.
