‘Jhund’ Actor Priyanshu, Known for His Role Alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Tragically Murdered in Nagpur
In a shocking turn of events, actor Priyanshu, who rose to prominence with his role in the 2022 film Jhund starring Amitabh Bachchan, has reportedly been murdered in Nagpur. The actor, also known as Babu Ravi Singh Chhetri, was just 21 years old.
According to reports from PTI, Priyanshu lost his life after a drunken altercation with a friend, identified as Dhruv Lal Bahadur Sahu (20), in the early hours of Wednesday (October 8). The accused has since been arrested by the Nagpur police.
As per the police, “Priyanshu and Dhruv were friends and would consume alcohol together. After midnight on Tuesday, Sahu and Chhetri travelled by Sahu's motorcycle to an abandoned house in the Jaripatka area for a drinking session. This occurred a few hours before Chhetri was found injured early Wednesday morning.”
The situation reportedly escalated after a heated argument between the two. Priyanshu had allegedly threatened Sahu during the quarrel and later fell asleep. The police further stated, “Fearing harm, Sahu allegedly tied Chhetri with wires and attacked him with a sharp weapon.”
Disturbing details emerged as authorities added that locals later found Priyanshu half-naked and tied with plastic wires, gravely injured. He was immediately rushed to Mayo Hospital, but despite efforts, doctors declared him dead during treatment.
The tragic news has left fans and film industry colleagues deeply saddened. Priyanshu’s performance in Jhund, directed by Nagraj Manjule, had garnered appreciation for its authenticity and emotional depth. The film, based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of Slum Soccer, told an inspiring story of underprivileged youth finding hope through football.
The investigation into Priyanshu’s death is ongoing, as police continue to piece together the sequence of events leading to the shocking murder.
Priyanshu’s untimely demise marks a heartbreaking end to a young life and career that had just begun to shine in the Indian film industry.
