Mere Husband Ki Biwi Struggles at Box Office, Earns Only ₹1.5 Crore on Day 1

The much-anticipated Bollywood film Mere Husband Ki Biwi, featuring Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh, had a disappointing start at the box office. Despite extensive promotions across multiple cities, the film managed to collect only ₹1.5 crore on its opening day.
Industry analysts had expected a stronger response due to the star-studded cast and marketing efforts. However, the lukewarm reception indicates that the film failed to generate significant buzz among audiences.
Recent releases with similar collections have struggled to sustain themselves at the box office. The film Azaad, featuring newcomers Rasha Thadani and Aaman Devgan, also earned ₹1.5 crore on its first day but was declared a flop within a week. Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency opened at ₹2.5 crore and concluded its theatrical run with ₹18.35 crore. With such comparisons, Mere Husband Ki Biwi has emerged as one of the weakest Bollywood openers of the year. The only mainstream Hindi film to fare worse was Loveyapa, starring Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan, which collected ₹1.15 crore on day one.
Directed by Mudassar Aziz, Mere Husband Ki Biwi follows his previous project, Khel Khel Mein, which featured Akshay Kumar. That film, despite releasing on the lucrative Independence Day weekend, struggled at the box office and failed to cross ₹40 crore.
The poor opening of Mere Husband Ki Biwi raises concerns about audience preferences and the declining performance of mid-budget Bollywood films. Whether the film will gain momentum over the weekend remains to be seen.
