Nothing Launches Phone 2a Plus Community Edition: A Co-Created Smartphone

Nothing - British consumer technology brand has unveiled its latest innovation, the Phone 2a Plus Community Edition smartphone. The company describes it as “the first co-created smartphone developed in collaboration with some of Nothing’s community members.” This limited edition device features a unique glow-in-the-dark finish, setting it apart in the market.

Only 1,000 units of the Phone 2a Plus Community Edition will be produced globally, with priority access to purchase given to community members. Priced at Rs 29,999, the smartphone will be available in a configuration of 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Details on the purchasing process will be shared on the Nothing community platform, where members can register to receive a unique purchase link.

Nothing's Community Edition Project actively involved its global audience, inviting contributions across various product aspects—from hardware design to marketing strategies. The initial phase focused on hardware design, where selected winners worked alongside Nothing’s design team to bring the concept “Phosphorescence” to life. By utilizing green-tinted phosphorescent materials, parts of the phone's back emit a soft glow in dark settings, an analogue feature that operates without any power source.

Following the hardware design, the project continued with the development of wallpapers, packaging, and marketing campaigns. The Community Edition smartphone showcases an expanded selection of wallpapers, including designs from the “Connected Collection.” Additionally, the phone's packaging features reflective elements that also glow in the dark, harmonizing with the hardware design.
