Ranbir Kapoor and ‘Ramayana’ Team Postpone Teaser Launch Following Pahalgam Terror Attack
In the aftermath of the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians on April 22, emotions continue to run high across the nation. As mourning continues and public outrage remains palpable, several Bollywood figures have stepped forward in solidarity with the victims and their families.
Joining the likes of Aamir Khan and Salman Khan—who have postponed promotional activities for their upcoming films as a mark of respect—Ranbir Kapoor has also taken a meaningful step in response to the incident. The actor, who is set to star in one of the most awaited films of recent years, Ramayana, has made a heartfelt decision that is resonating strongly with his fans and the film fraternity alike.
Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in lead roles, is planned as a two-part epic. The first installment is slated for a Diwali 2026 release, while the second is in production with a tentative release during Diwali 2027. Anticipation for the film has been growing steadily, with audiences eagerly awaiting the first teaser.
However, in light of the recent events in Pahalgam, the team behind Ramayana has decided to postpone the teaser launch, which was initially scheduled to take place at the WAVES 2025 Summit. According to Box Office Worldwide, the decision was made unanimously by the entire team, including the producers and cast.
Confirming the development during the WAVES Summit, producer Namit Malhotra stated, “We had planned to show a glimpse of ‘Ramayana’ at WAVES 2025, but it has been postponed in light of the situation in Pahalgam.”
The team has yet to announce a new date for the teaser’s release, as they await a more appropriate time to share the project with the world.
Malhotra also reiterated the creative vision behind the film, adding, “Ramayana deserves to be localised, to be told in every tongue, in every corner of the world.” He emphasized the team’s dedication to respecting the soul of the ancient epic while reimagining its storytelling for a modern, global audience.
This respectful gesture from the makers of Ramayana has been widely appreciated by fans and industry insiders alike, standing as a poignant reminder of the power of art to reflect empathy and collective mourning in times of national tragedy.
