In the midst of his success with the 2023 hit Animal, Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has shifted focus to his upcoming project, Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. While Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, continues to make waves nine months after its release, Kapoor’s next role has sparked excitement in the industry. According to a Hindustan Times report, in Ramayana, Kapoor will share the screen with South Indian actress Sai Pallavi, bringing a fresh adaptation of the mythological epic to life.

Early reports had confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor would be portraying Lord Rama, but according to new sources, his role will encompass much more. A report from Peeping Moon reveals that Kapoor will not only be playing Lord Rama but also another significant avatar of Lord Vishnu, Parashuram. The role of Parashuram in the Ramayana carries immense weight, particularly during the confrontation following Lord Rama and Sita’s wedding at Mithila. "Ranbir’s look as Parashuram will be ‘distinct and unrecognizable,’" the report added, which heightens anticipation for this unique portrayal.

Adding to the intrigue surrounding the cast, Amitabh Bachchan is reportedly involved in a special capacity. Fresh off his compelling performance as Ashwatthama in Kalki 2898 AD, where he starred alongside Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, Bachchan’s next role may see him lend his voice to Jatayu in Ramayana. Jatayu, the heroic vulture who bravely fought against Ravana during Sita’s abduction, holds an iconic place in the epic. "Rumours suggest that makers have even scanned Big B’s eyes to ‘enhance Jatayu’s portrayal’ with the use of VFX," a source revealed.

As these reports gain momentum, the official confirmation from the makers of Ramayana is eagerly awaited. Fans are keen to see how the film will present these legendary characters and moments on the big screen, blending mythology with modern cinematic technology.
