Saif Ali Khan Returns Home After Hospitalization Following Stabbing Incident

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, 54, who has appeared in over 70 movies and television series, was discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday after being treated for multiple stab wounds sustained in an alleged burglary at his Bandra residence on January 16.

According to the actor's medical report, Saif sustained injuries in five areas—his back, wrist, neck, shoulder, and elbow—ranging in size from 0.5 cm to 15 cm. The report also confirmed that the actor’s friend, Afsar Zaidi, accompanied him to the hospital at 4:11 AM that night, dispelling earlier speculation about who was with him.

The accused, identified as Sariful Islam, who illegally entered India from Bangladesh under the alias Bijoy Das, was apprehended on Saturday near Thane after a three-day manhunt involving 20 teams from the Mumbai Police.

Following the attack, Mumbai Police increased security around Saif Ali Khan's Bandra West residence, Satguru Sharan. "We have provided temporary police protection outside Saif Ali Khan's Satguru Sharan building in Bandra West. Two constables from Bandra police station will be posted there in two shifts. CCTV cameras and window grills have also been installed as part of security," said a senior police official.

Saif expressed gratitude to autorickshaw driver Bhajan Singh Rana, who rushed him to the hospital after the attack. “Let people say that he (Saif) gave me Rs 50,000 or Rs 1,00,000, but I would not like to reveal the amount. He has requested me to not share this information and I'll keep my promise to him, whatever it is, it is between him and me,” said Mr. Rana, who lives in a one-room flat in Khar with four roommates.

The driver had the opportunity to meet Saif and his family at the hospital on Tuesday. "I met him (Saif) yesterday (Tuesday) at the hospital. He called to thank me for taking him to the hospital. He praised me. I got the blessings from him and his family. He (Khan) introduced me to his mother (Sharmila Tagore), and I touched her feet. He gave me (money) whatever he felt was right and said whenever I need help he will be there," said Mr. Rana.

Saif Ali Khan, now recovering at home, has expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported him during the ordeal.
