Sanam Teri Kasam Re-Release Box Office Collection Day 3: Film Surpasses Rs 25 Crore Mark

In a surprising turn of events, the 2016 romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, has made an extraordinary impact at the box office with its re-release. Starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, the film originally had a modest opening of Rs 1.3 crore on its first day in 2016 and managed to collect Rs 8.71 crore in its first week. Despite its soulful music being well-received, the film eventually wrapped up its lifetime collection at approximately Rs 9 crore, categorizing it as a commercial failure.

However, nine years later, Sanam Teri Kasam has witnessed an unprecedented resurgence. Re-released on February 7, the film opened to a staggering Rs 5.14 crore, a figure that remarkably surpassed half of its first-week collection from 2016. The momentum continued on Day 2 with earnings of Rs 6.22 crore, which meant that in just two days, the re-release had already surpassed the film’s original lifetime box office numbers.

According to trade sources, “The film has made around Rs 6.25 crores on Sunday, taking the total collection since its re-release to around Rs 18 crores.” This has propelled the overall box office collection of Sanam Teri Kasam to an impressive Rs 25 crore, a feat that has astounded industry experts.

The unexpected success of the film’s re-release has also overshadowed new releases that hit theaters on February 7. Notably, Sanam Teri Kasam outperformed Loveyapa, starring Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor, and Himesh Reshammiya’s Badass Ravikumar. While the former managed Rs 1.65 crore and the latter Rs 1.5 crore on Sunday, Sanam Teri Kasam raked in over Rs 6 crore, cementing its place as the weekend’s top performer.

Interestingly, the film’s sudden resurgence aligns with the recent announcement of its sequel. In September 2024, Soham Rockstar Entertainment officially confirmed Sanam Teri Kasam 2. Sharing a photo of producer Deepak Mukut alongside Harshvardhan Rane, the makers stated, “Sanam Teri Kasam 2 is officially happening! After the epic love story of the first film, we’re back with more! Stay tuned for updates!” The announcement was met with overwhelming excitement from fans, many of whom had previously demanded a re-release of the original film.

Further fueling speculation about the re-release was a post by Harshvardhan Rane on January 23, in which he encouraged fans to request the film’s return to theaters. He wrote, “To re release Sanam Teri Kasam part 1, we should tag Deepak Mukut Sir, …and request him to re release it on 7th Feb 2025 (Valentine week). Express your reasons in comments and tag him, I will also go to his office tomorrow morning and show him this!”

The overwhelming box office response to the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam has not only reignited interest in the film but has also set a new benchmark for re-released films in the Indian film industry. With its sequel in the pipeline, the cult status of Sanam Teri Kasam appears to be stronger than ever.
