Veteran actor Satish Shah, known for his remarkable versatility across television and cinema, passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 74 due to kidney-related complications. The much-loved actor, who had undergone a kidney transplant earlier this year, reportedly chose the procedure as “he wanted to extend his life so that he could take care of Madhu,” his wife, who has been battling Alzheimer’s disease.

A prayer meet in Satish Shah’s memory was held in Mumbai on Monday evening (October 27), attended by his family, close friends, and several industry colleagues. His wife, Madhu Shah, was seen arriving at the venue, accompanied by a group of women believed to be her friends and relatives. “Madhu looked grief-stricken and was seen getting emotional as she entered the place.”

Among those who came to pay their respects was Deven Bhojani, Shah’s Sarabhai vs Sarabhai co-star, who was spotted walking towards the prayer meet. Other members from the television and film fraternity were also present, reflecting the deep affection and admiration the industry held for the late actor.

Satish and Madhu’s love story remains one of quiet devotion and persistence. The two first met at the Sipta Film Festival, where Shah instantly fell in love with her. However, Madhu initially declined his proposal. His affection endured, and he proposed again during the shoot of Saath Saath (1982), only to face another rejection. But as fate would have it, his third proposal finally won Madhu over. She asked him to meet her parents, and after earning their approval, the couple got engaged and married eight months later, in 1972. The two shared over five decades of companionship, keeping their personal life away from the public spotlight.

The actor’s final moments were as sudden as they were heartbreaking. “Satish Shah died of renal failure in Mumbai on Saturday. He was 74. The actor collapsed while having lunch at his Mumbai residence, his manager revealed. He was rushed to Hinduja Hospital but could not be revived.” His funeral took place on Sunday in Mumbai, attended by his family, close friends, and several prominent figures from the film industry, all of whom gathered to bid farewell to a beloved artist and a gentle soul.

Satish Shah leaves behind a legacy rich in laughter, warmth, and timeless performances that will continue to live in the hearts of audiences for generations to come.
