‘Son of Sardaar 2’ Day 7 Box Office: Slows Down with ₹32.7 Cr First Week Total
Ajay Devgn’s latest comedy-drama Son of Sardaar 2, co-starring Mrunal Thakur, has completed its first week at the domestic box office with moderate success. Despite securing an edge over fellow release Dhadak 2, the film's earnings have not yet reached the benchmark for a box office hit. According to industry estimates from Sacnilk, “Son of Sardaar 2 box office collection on day 7 reached ₹32.23 crore, earning ₹0.74 crore on Thursday.” The film’s total after seven days stands at approximately ₹32.7 crore. “Son of Sardaar 2 starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur continued its run at the box office with modest numbers on its seventh day.” While the film remained relatively stable through its initial days, Day 7 witnessed a noticeable dip, especially in the evening and night shows. “Despite outnumbering the other release Dhadak 2, the numbers are still not enough for this comedy drama to declare it a clear winner.” The movie still has a long way to go before crossing the ₹50 crore milestone in India. Occupancy rates paint a clear picture of the film’s performance trajectory. “While the film had performed consistently over its first six days, Day 7 witnessed a decline in audience turnout during the evening and night shows, which recorded 0% occupancy across major regions.” The average Hindi 2D occupancy for the day was recorded at 7.11%, with morning shows registering 5.48% and a slight improvement to 8.73% in the afternoon. Regional performance varied significantly. Jaipur led with an impressive 14% overall occupancy, peaking at 16% during afternoon screenings. Lucknow followed closely with 10.5%, also benefiting from strong afternoon attendance at 14%. Delhi NCR clocked in at 8.5%, primarily supported by an 11% turnout in the afternoon. Other major cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Chandigarh showed consistent but lukewarm numbers at around 7%. In contrast, Surat, Kolkata, and Bhopal reported lower figures, hovering between 3% and 3.5%. “Drop in evening footfall” became a major concern as empty halls were reported across evening and night showtimes in several markets. This sharp decline suggests that the film's momentum may be slowing heading into the second weekend. Nonetheless, “Son of Sardaar 2 has managed a respectable first-week total, and with the weekend approaching, the film will be looking to regain traction — especially in strongholds like Jaipur and Lucknow.” Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora in his debut Hindi film venture, Son of Sardaar 2 sees Ajay Devgn reprising his role as Jassi Singh Randhawa. The story follows Jassi on a chaotic adventure in Scotland as he attempts to reconcile with his estranged wife. Amid a whirlwind of Punjabi wedding festivities, mafia showdowns, and a bizarre hostage situation, Jassi’s journey takes a turn for the unpredictable. With the second weekend ahead, the film’s performance in its stronger circuits will be crucial in determining whether it can sustain a steady run at the box office.
