Vikrant Massey Attends Screening of The Sabarmati Report Amid Retirement Buzz

Actor Vikrant Massey created a stir on Monday with his unexpected announcement that he plans to retire from films after 2025. Shortly after sharing the news on Instagram, Massey attended the screening of his latest movie, The Sabarmati Report, held at the Balayogi Auditorium in Parliament. The event marked his first public appearance since his announcement, where he chose to focus on discussing the film rather than addressing questions about his decision to step away from acting.
The screening, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cabinet ministers, and MPs, was a momentous occasion for Massey. Speaking to ANI and other reporters, the actor expressed his excitement: “I watched the film with the Prime Minister, all cabinet ministers, and many MPs. It was a special experience. I still can't fully express it in words because I am so happy... This is the highest point of my career, that I got to watch my film with the Prime Minister.”
While Massey was open to discussing the screening and the experience of showcasing his work to such a prominent audience, he avoided answering questions about his retirement. When asked by reporters about his Instagram post announcing his plans to quit films, the actor walked away without a response. His co-star, Raashii Khanna, stepped in to steer the conversation back to the film, expressing her own joy at being part of such a historic screening.
In his Instagram post, Massey reflected on his journey and hinted at personal priorities guiding his decision. He wrote, “The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and everyone of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home, as a husband, father, a son and also as an actor.” He further added, “So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between.”
The actor, known for his acclaimed performances in films like 12th Fail and Sector 36, has left fans and industry insiders speculating about his decision. While some view his announcement as a sincere move, others, including his Haseen Dillruba co-star Harshvardhan Rane, suspect it might be a strategic promotional tactic for his upcoming film, Zero Se Restart.
As Massey embarks on what he calls the “last leg” of his career, his retirement remains a topic of intrigue, even as he continues to focus on the projects at hand.
