In an interview with Pinkvilla, Manisha Koirala reminisced about her entry into the film, recounting a challenging table read of the first scene. Despite her earlier debut in 1991's Saudagar, it was her role in the 1994 period romantic drama, 1942: A Love Story, that truly marked her as an actress to be reckoned with. 

Manisha Koirala candidly shared an anecdote from her time on the set of 1942: A Love Story, revealing a moment of vulnerability. Recalling the initial reading of a scene where she felt inadequate, Vidhu Vinod Chopra straightforwardly expressed his dissatisfaction, telling her, "You are very bad." Determined to improve, Koirala requested a mere 24 hours to refine her performance, promising to accept any critique thereafter. 

Reflecting on the incident, Koirala admitted that, at the time, she lacked a clear understanding of what constituted good or bad acting, given her limited experience—only her third or fourth film. Armed with just a few sheets of dialogue, she devoted herself to relentless practice, repeatedly studying the lines until they became ingrained. Returning for another screen test, she demonstrated her determination to improve. Ultimately, she earned acceptance into the film. This episode underscores her humility, dedication, and growth as an actor.

Following her breakthrough in 1942: A Love Story, Manisha Koirala's career soared as she starred in a string of successful and critically acclaimed films.
