Zoom launches its Docs feature, enabling users to work together on files during meetings

Zoom Docs now provides users access to Zoom's AI Companion tool, designed to help summarize and manage meetings. In a significant update, Zoom users can now ask the AI to create documents based on meeting discussions. This feature, called Zoom Docs, became available on Monday, August 5.

Zoom Docs enables users to easily share files with all meeting participants and use generative AI to record or edit these files collaboratively. The video-calling platform first announced these built-in collaboration features during its annual Zoomtopia event last year. Users can also use Zoom’s AI Companion to organize meeting transcripts, create tables, compile checklists, and track assigned tasks and processes.

With Zoom Docs, the company aims to compete with Google and Microsoft, who have already integrated AI features into their workplace collaboration tools. Google Workspace dominates the market with over 3 billion users, while Microsoft Teams has 320 million monthly active users, according to a report by Wired.
