According to a report, OpenAI may unveil GPT-5, its next-generation large language model, within the next few months
According to a recent report, OpenAI may be gearing up to unveil GPT-5, the highly anticipated next-generation iteration of its revolutionary large language model, within the coming months.
According to a Business Insider report citing sources familiar with the company, OpenAI, under the leadership of Sam Altman, is poised to launch GPT-5, the next iteration of its multimodal large language model, potentially in the upcoming months, with a targeted release around mid-year, during the summer. The company has allegedly provided demonstrations of GPT-5 to enterprise clients.
Meanwhile, OpenAI is also progressing towards integrating its technology into humanoid robots. The company is set to collaborate with Figure AI to pioneer the development of humanoid robots specifically tailored for deployment within the workforce.
This partnership will merge OpenAI's cutting-edge research with Figure's comprehensive expertise in both hardware and software aspects of robotics. By leveraging OpenAI's advancements, Figure intends to expedite its development timeline by empowering its humanoid robots with the capability to process and "reason" from natural language, thereby enhancing their cognitive abilities.
Humanoid robots have indeed captured the spotlight, with major technology players engaged in a race to develop innovative solutions. NVIDIA recently joined the fray with the announcement of Project GR00T, a versatile foundation model tailored for humanoid robots. Alongside this unveiling, NVIDIA introduced Jetson Thor, a state-of-the-art computer designed specifically for humanoid robots, complemented by enhancements to its Isaac robotics platform.
This year, OpenAI has elevated its capabilities beyond ChatGPT and DALL.E with the introduction of Sora, an advanced AI software capable of generating hyper-realistic one-minute videos based on text prompts. While Sora is currently undergoing the red teaming phase for flaw identification, GPT-5's development might be slightly delayed, as it hasn't entered the red teaming phase yet. Additionally, anticipated release dates for GPT-5 could face further postponement if OpenAI encounters any issues during testing and demonstrations.
