Aamir Khan Honoured as 'Box Office Ka Baap' After 'Sitaare Zameen Par' Hits ₹137.80 Crore in 15 Days
Aamir Khan’s latest theatrical release Sitaare Zameen Par has proven to be a commercial winner at the Indian box office. According to data by Sacnilk, the film has raked in an estimated ₹137.80 crore (nett) in India within just 15 days of its release. Despite stiff competition from recent releases like Kajol’s Maa and Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa, the film has held its ground and emerged as a clear success story.
"Sitaare Zameen Par has performed well and earned an estimated ₹137.80 crore (nett) in India in 15 days," Sacnilk reported.
The family drama, released in theatres on June 20, is directed by RS Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan along with Aparna Purohit and Ravi Bhagchandka. Aamir plays the role of a basketball coach who mentors a group of ten differently-abled youngsters, delivering a powerful narrative that resonates with audiences. The film, a spiritual sequel to his critically acclaimed 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par, has received praise for its emotional depth and inspiring message.
Before the release, Aamir had made it clear that the film would not be released on any streaming platform, reinforcing the importance of the theatrical experience. "The makers had decided not to release the film on any streaming platforms, making it a theatre-only release," he had revealed.
To celebrate the film’s overwhelming success, a special evening was hosted by leading multiplex chains PVR INOX Pictures and Cinepolis. The event brought together exhibitors from across the country who came forward to felicitate Aamir Khan for his contribution to cinema and his film’s box office feat.
