Arjun Kapoor Reflects on Personal Struggles and Rediscovered Passion Amid Success of Singham Again

Arjun Kapoor recently shared insights into his journey while working on Singham Again, describing how he signed onto the film during a period of personal and professional struggle. Kapoor, who is now celebrating the success of Rohit Shetty’s ensemble cop drama, opened up in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, revealing that he was at a low point in his life and career when he accepted the role.

According to Kapoor, he had lost his passion for watching films, a pastime that had always been central to his life. “I stopped enjoying watching films. And I only know that. My life is all about movies. Suddenly, I'd watch other people's work and feel, ‘Will I be able to? Will I get a chance to?’ And I've never been a bitter, negative person, but that started festering inside me in a very off way. My wish list kept getting longer and longer. I became that guy who'd watch YouTube Shorts to put myself to sleep. That's not a nice place to be,” he said. He reflected that his work on Singham Again, a high-energy action film, marked a striking contrast to his emotional state at the time.

After finishing the film’s shoot in May, Kapoor began reconnecting with his love for cinema, gradually re-engaging with movies and shows. “I started engaging with movies again, I started engaging with shows again, and I started engaging with myself again to be very happy. I was finding it very difficult to be happy,” he shared. Kapoor found himself slowly immersing back into the world of film, watching a long-pending season of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building and viewing Mad Max: Furiosa alone, an experience that reminded him of his deep-rooted love for movies.

In Singham Again, Kapoor takes on the role of Danger Lanka, the film’s chief antagonist, envisioned as a modern-day Ravana, in contrast to Ajay Devgn’s portrayal of a Lord Rama-inspired character. The film’s ensemble cast also includes Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Jackie Shroff, Akshay Kumar, Ravi Kishan, and Shweta Tiwari. Within six days of its release, the film has reportedly earned ₹164 crore at the domestic box office, further marking Kapoor’s comeback into the spotlight.
