Bengal Tigers under the captaincy of Jisshu Sengupta wins CCL
The Bengal Tigers, led by Jisshu Sengupta, secured their inaugural Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) championship by defeating the Karnataka Bulldozers, captained by Kiccha Sudeep, in an intense final at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. The Bengal Tigers won by 13 runs.
Winning the toss, Bengal Tigers opted to bat first, a strategic choice that played a crucial role in determining the match's outcome. Guided by Jisshu's assured captaincy, Bengal Tigers set a challenging target of 118 runs for the loss of four wickets in their opening innings.
The bowlers of Bengal Tigers showcased their prowess by limiting Karnataka Bulldozers to a mere 86 runs for the loss of seven wickets in a brisk 10 overs. This substantial lead of 32 runs bestowed Bengal Tigers with a pivotal advantage as they approached the second innings.
In their second innings, Bengal Tigers added an impressive 105 runs to their total, losing four wickets in the process. Setting a challenging target of 138 runs for Karnataka Bulldozers, the stage was indeed set for a thrilling finale. Despite their valiant efforts, Sudeep's Karnataka Bulldozers stumbled in their chase, failing to overcome the formidable target set by Bengal Tigers.
Rahul Mazumdar of Bengal Tigers was honored as the best batsman of the final, showcasing his outstanding skills with the bat. Chandan from Karnataka Bulldozers was recognized as the best bowler of the final for his exceptional bowling performance. Jammy Banerjee of Bengal Tigers was rightfully crowned the Player of the Final, epitomizing excellence with his all-round contribution to the team's victory.
In addition to his outstanding display in the final, Rahul was also honored with the prestigious Man of the Series award for his remarkable consistency throughout the tournament. Jammy, who amassed an impressive total of 452 runs across the matches, rightfully earned the title of Best Batsman of the Series. Raja Bhrewani of Mumbai Heroes was recognized as the Best Bowler of the Series, having clinched an impressive tally of 15 wickets. The coveted Man of the Series accolade was rightfully bestowed upon Rahul Mazumdar of Bengal Tigers, acknowledging his exceptional contributions throughout the CCL season.
