Chhaava Advance Booking Report: Vicky Kaushal’s Historical Epic Set for a Strong Opening

Vicky Kaushal’s highly anticipated historical action film Chhaava is set to hit theatres on Valentine’s Day, February 14. Co-starring Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna, the film has generated significant buzz, and early advance booking numbers suggest a promising start at the box office.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Chhaava has already sold 2,32,746 tickets across 8,090 shows in India for its opening day. The film is currently projected to earn ₹6.74 crore in India from advance bookings alone, with the number rising to ₹8.42 crore, including block seats. If the momentum continues, the film could surpass the opening collection of Kaushal’s previous release, Bad Newz, which debuted at ₹8.3 crore.

For comparison, other major releases this year include Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which opened at ₹12.25 crore, Shahid Kapoor’s Deva, which collected ₹5.5 crore on its first day, and Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, which had a ₹2.5 crore opening. With these figures in mind, Chhaava is poised to be one of the biggest openings of 2025 so far.

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, Chhaava is a historical action drama based on the life of Maratha king Sambhaji, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal. Rashmika Mandanna plays Maharani Yesubai, while Akshaye Khanna takes on the role of Aurangzeb. The ensemble cast also includes Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai. The film is an adaptation of the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant.

The soundtrack and background score for Chhaava are composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil. Adding to the anticipation, Kaushal has undergone a rigorous physical transformation for the role. Speaking about his preparation, the actor shared, “There were days when I had no time to even relax. With 12-hour shoot schedules, two hours of training before and two hours of action rehearsals after, I barely had time to sleep.”

He also credited his wife, actress Katrina Kaif, for her unwavering support during this demanding period. “Katrina knows how it is in the industry, and she was so kind and patient with me,” Kaushal said at a promotional event.

With strong pre-release traction and a star-studded cast, Chhaava is expected to make a significant impact at the box office. The final opening-day numbers will determine whether the film can surpass expectations and set new benchmarks for historical dramas in Bollywood.
