Last year in March, Deepika introduced the performance of the Oscar-winning song "Naatu Naatu" from RRR at the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles. Composed by MM Keeravani, "Naatu Naatu" made history by being the first Telugu song to not only be performed and nominated but also to win at the Oscars.
While introducing the act, Deepika stated, “With an irresistibly catchy chorus, electrifying beats, and killer dance moves to match, this next song has become a global sensation. It accompanies a pivotal scene in RRR, a film depicting the friendship between real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem."
She further added, "Not only is it sung in Telugu, highlighting the film’s anti-colonialist themes, but it’s also an absolute hit. With millions of views on YouTube and TikTok, it has audiences dancing in movie theaters worldwide. Remarkably, it's the first song from an Indian production ever to be nominated for an Oscar.”
