Dev Unveils a Striking New Avatar in Kaushik Ganguly’s Long-Awaited Film Dhumketu

After years of anticipation, Kaushik Ganguly’s film Dhumketu has finally unveiled its official trailer, offering fans a glimpse into a never-before-seen side of Bengali superstar Dev.

“Dev appears in a never-before-seen avatar in the trailer of Kaushik Ganguly’s upcoming film Dhumketu, dropped by the makers on Monday.”

Starring Dev alongside Subhashree Ganguly, the film is scheduled for release on August 14. Clocking in at 2 minutes and 57 seconds, the trailer presents Dev as Bhanu — a mysterious soldier navigating emotional and physical turmoil as he tries to hold on to love and family amidst adversity.

“The two-minute-57-second-long video features Dev as a mysterious soldier Bhanu (Dev), striving to maintain his love and family ties despite facing significant challenges and turmoil. The video intercuts visuals of Dev’s character undergoing rigorous physical training with scenes of his romance with Subhashree’s character.”

Midway through the trailer, viewers are introduced to Rudranil Ghosh’s character, who unexpectedly encounters an elderly man — also portrayed by Dev.

“Half way through the trailer, Rudranil Ghosh’s character makes an appearance, who runs into an old man, played by Dev. It appears that he has made a comeback in disguise with a mission to foil an attack on India.”

The journey of Dhumketu has been anything but smooth. Initially shot in 2016, the film faced an extended delay due to creative and production disagreements, particularly between co-producers Dev and Rana Sarkar. Despite the setbacks, the project has remained close to the hearts of both Dev and Ganguly, who have repeatedly described it as one of the most powerful works in the actor’s career.

Adding further depth to the narrative are performances by veteran actors Chiranjeet Chakraborty and Parambrata Chattopadhyay, with Rudranil Ghosh playing a pivotal role.

Dhumketu is set for a major box office face-off this Independence Day weekend, clashing with two high-profile pan-India releases — War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, and Coolie, led by Rajinikanth.

While the competition is fierce, Dhumketu brings with it the weight of years of expectation and the promise of a powerful cinematic experience — one that fans of Dev and Bengali cinema alike have long been waiting for.
