Mission: Impossible 8 Day 3 Box Office Collection: Tom Cruise's Farewell to Ethan Hunt Sees Strong Start in India

Tom Cruise's swan song in the Mission: Impossible franchise, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, continues to perform steadily at the Indian box office. Despite the challenge of a weekday release, the film has maintained momentum since its premiere on Saturday.

According to data from Sacnilk, the film has amassed a total net collection of ₹38.81 crore in India over its first three days. The action thriller opened with ₹16.5 crore on Saturday and saw a marginal increase on Sunday, collecting ₹17 crore. On Monday, typically a slower day for theatres, the film still managed to earn ₹5.31 crore, signaling strong audience interest.

In comparison, the franchise’s previous installment, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, which hit theatres in 2023, had a ₹12.3 crore opening and garnered ₹30.2 crore net in its first three days. Notably, that film debuted on a Wednesday, unlike the current installment's Saturday release.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning features Tom Cruise returning as iconic IMF agent Ethan Hunt for his final mission. The film also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, and Angela Bassett. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie and co-written by McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen, the film presents a new kind of adversary—an AI entity—posing a global threat unlike any Hunt has faced before.

The film, produced by Paramount Pictures and Skydance, was released in Indian cinemas on May 17 in multiple languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Tom Cruise has been winning over Indian fans not only with high-octane stunts but also with his heartfelt gestures. In a recent promotional video, he expressed his affection for Indian audiences by speaking in Hindi: “Main aap sab se bahut pyaar karta hoon. Mujpe bharosa karo, ek akhri baar (I love you all a lot. Trust me one last time).”

Reflecting on his time in the country, he added, “I feel so much love for India. I have to say the whole experience has been etched in my memory. Every single moment. From the moment I landed, going to the Taj Mahal, and spending time in Mumbai, I remember each moment quite vividly.”

With its promising start and Cruise’s emotional farewell to the beloved character, the film is expected to maintain its pace at the box office in the days ahead.
