Kajol Reflects on Her Journey in Bollywood, Prepares for Upcoming Films
Bollywood actor Kajol recently shared her thoughts on her ongoing career, expressing gratitude for continuing to work and remain relevant in an ever-evolving industry. In a candid conversation at a session of Expresso, Kajol discussed how her success has been driven by her work rather than her family ties, despite being the daughter of veteran actor Tanuja and the wife of actor Ajay Devgn. She emphasized the importance of audience appreciation in her journey.
Kajol remarked, “It isn’t about legacy. It is every woman’s work. Nargis, Sharmila Tagore had no legacy. What I am today isn’t because of my lineage. It is the legacy of every woman who has worked. Every woman has to take a call that now I will take a break and if I want to come back, I will come back and she will be able to do that if she wants to.”
Reflecting on her filmography, the actor noted, “If you see my filmography, I am probably the least worked actor. My mom (veteran actor Tanuja) and grandmom (late director and actor Shobhna Samarth) always told me that work is a part of your life not your whole life. I did take breaks. I wanted to get married and have kids. Thankfully I am still working and I’m still relevant... I am thankful to everyone for having a good taste so far.”
Kajol also touched upon her comfort in taking breaks from work, a decision she has made throughout her career to focus on her personal life, including her marriage and children. Her success, she maintains, has been a result of her choices and the audience's support rather than any inherited privilege.
Looking ahead, Kajol's upcoming film projects showcase her versatility as an actor. She is set to explore new genres, including the horror film Maa, marking her debut in the genre. Additionally, she will reunite with director Prabhu Deva in Maharagni – Queen of Queens, an action-packed film featuring Charan Tej Uppalapati. This will be Kajol’s second collaboration with Prabhu Deva after 27 years.
Fans will also see her in the Netflix mystery-thriller Do Patti, where she will take on the role of a police officer. With a diverse slate of films on the horizon, Kajol continues to leave a lasting mark on the industry, navigating her career with both purpose and passion.
