Maalik Box Office Collection Day 4: Rajkummar Rao's Gritty Gangster Drama Crosses ₹15 Crore Mark

Rajkummar Rao’s latest film Maalik, which hit theatres last Friday, has managed to hold steady at the box office, earning praise for its intense narrative and powerful performances. The gritty action drama, also starring Manushi Chhillar and Prosenjit Chatterjee, has garnered fairly positive reviews from both critics and audiences.

Despite facing tough competition from the big-budget Hollywood release Superman, Maalik managed to make its mark during the opening weekend. As per early estimates reported by Sacnilk, the film collected ₹1.34 crore on its fourth day—its lowest daily collection so far, which comes as no surprise considering it was a Monday.

“The latest report states that, as per early estimates, Maalik earned ₹1.34 crore on its fourth day of release. This is the lowest single-day collection for the film so far, which is not surprising given that it is on a Monday when the audience footfall usually shows a decline.”

On opening day, the film earned approximately ₹3.75 crore, followed by a consistent weekend haul of ₹5.25 crore each on Saturday and Sunday. With these figures, the total box office collection for Maalik now stands at ₹15.59 crore.

“Maalik made an opening day haul of around ₹3.75 crore and went on to show some growth on the weekend, collecting ₹5.25 crore on both Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The total collections of the film now stand at ₹15.59 crore.”

On Monday, the film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 8.22% across theatres.

Among Hindi releases this week, Maalik outperformed Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan, which features Vikrant Massey and marks Shanaya Kapoor’s Bollywood debut. However, it continues to face pressure from Superman, which has already crossed ₹25 crore in India during its opening weekend—surpassing the combined total of both major Hindi releases.

“Maalik outshined the other Hindi release of the week, Aankhon ki Gustakhiyaan, which stars Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor in her acting debut. However, the film faces stiff competition from David Corenswet-starrer Superman, which has collected over ₹25 crore in India in its opening weekend, significantly more than the two Bollywood releases combined.”

Set in the gritty backdrop of Allahabad, Maalik explores themes of power, ambition, and survival, presenting a raw and realistic look into a world shaped by violence, greed, and loyalty.

“Set in Allahabad, Maalik is a gritty action drama that delves into themes of ambition, power, and survival. It paints a raw portrait of a world dominated by violence, greed, and unwavering loyalty.”

Directed by Pulkit, the film is a joint production between Kumar Taurani’s Tips Films and Jay Shewakramani’s Northern Lights Films. Rajkummar Rao takes on the intense titular role, supported by a stellar cast including Prosenjit Chatterjee, Manushi Chhillar, Saurabh Sachdeva, Saurabh Shukla, Anshumaan Pushkar, Swanand Kirkire, Rajendra Gupta, and Baljinder Kaur.

With word-of-mouth working in its favour, all eyes are now on how Maalik performs in the coming weekdays.
