Mika Singh Opens Up About His Regret Over Producing Dangerous With Bipasha Basu

Singer and music producer Mika Singh has shared his challenging experience of working with actress Bipasha Basu on the 2020 crime thriller Dangerous, which he produced for MX Player. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Mika expressed his disappointment, stating that Bipasha’s alleged unprofessional behavior made the production process difficult.

Initially, Mika had planned for Dangerous to be a small-scale film, mainly as a platform to showcase his music. He recalled, “Why do you think they’re out of work now? God is watching everything. I liked Karan a lot and wanted to produce a low-budget film—around ₹4 crore,” he explained.

Due to budget constraints, Mika was unable to afford Vikram Bhatt as a director, so he brought him on as a writer while Bhushan Patel took charge of direction. However, the project took an unexpected turn when Bipasha expressed interest in joining the film.

He stated, “I was considering another actress, but she wanted to be a part of it. The shoot was set in London, and the budget increased from ₹4 crore to ₹14 crore... And the drama created by Bipasha ensured that I would always regret getting into production. It was a team she was comfortable with, and they were playing a couple, who had to feature in kissing scenes. Suddenly, she was throwing tantrums saying she won’t do this or she won’t do that, etc…”

Mika further revealed that despite completing payments on time, the dubbing process also faced hurdles. He remarked, “Someone always had a sore throat. If it was Bipasha who was sick at one time, it was Karan at another.”

Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover, who met during the filming of Alone in 2015, tied the knot in 2016. The couple welcomed their daughter, Devi, in 2022. It has been nearly five years since Bipasha last appeared in an acting role.

While Dangerous marked Mika Singh’s debut as a producer, his experience with the project appears to have left him with lasting regrets.
