Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana Set for Re-Release Following the Success of Sanam Teri Kasam

The trend of re-releasing films continues to gain momentum, with the recent success of Sanam Teri Kasam (2016) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) motivating more filmmakers to bring back their beloved films to the big screen. Deepak Mukut, whose company Soham Rockstar presented Sanam Teri Kasam, has expressed his happiness over the film finally receiving the appreciation it missed during its initial theatrical run nine years ago.
Following this success, Mukut is now set to re-release Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017) in cinemas on March 7, coinciding with Women’s Day week. Similar to Sanam Teri Kasam, this film also struggled at the box office during its original release, collecting just ₹11.14 crores. However, over the years, it has garnered a cult following, largely due to its compelling storyline, dramatic sequences, powerful performances, and the widely popular song Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar, which has developed its own fan base.
A trade expert observed, “There’s no major Hindi release on March 7 since The Diplomat has moved to March 14. This is an apt time for Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana to be back in cinemas. It’ll get a decent screen count which can increase if there’s a tremendous demand.”
It remains to be seen whether Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana will replicate the re-release success of Sanam Teri Kasam and strike a chord with audiences once again. The film, starring Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda, narrates the story of Aarti, a young woman on the verge of an arranged marriage with Sattu. However, on the day of her wedding, she discovers that she has cleared her PCS exams. Fearing that her in-laws will not support her career aspirations, she makes the difficult decision to run away, confiding only in her sister and uncle. Sattu, heartbroken and humiliated, faces severe backlash from society. Years later, Aarti, now a successful sub-registrar, finds herself accused of corruption—only to discover that the officer leading the investigation is none other than Sattu.
Directed by Ratnaa Sinha and produced by Vinod Bachchan under Soundrya Productions, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana has remained a cherished film among fans. The news of its re-release was recently confirmed by filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, Ratnaa Sinha’s husband, who shared an Instagram story announcing the film’s return to cinemas on March 7.
With nostalgia-driven cinema gaining traction, the industry will be watching closely to see if Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana can make a significant impact at the box office this time around.
