Pushpa 2: The Rule Becomes the Second-Highest Grossing Indian Film, Set for Netflix Premiere with Exclusive Footage

The highly anticipated sequel Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, has made history by becoming the second-highest-grossing Indian film of all time. Following its phenomenal theatrical success since its release on December 5, 2024, the film is now set to make its digital debut.

On Wednesday, Netflix India announced that Pushpa 2: The Rule will premiere on its platform on January 30. The OTT version will include exclusive content, featuring 23 minutes of additional footage. In an official statement, Netflix revealed, "Pushpa Bhau ne sun li aapki baat, ab Pushpa ka rule, Hindi mein bhi  Watch Pushpa 2- Reloaded Version with 23 minutes of extra footage on Netflix, on 30 January in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam & Kannada!"

The film continues the journey of Pushpa Raj, who has risen from a daily wage worker to the mastermind behind a red sandalwood smuggling syndicate. Rashmika Mandanna portrays Srivalli, Pushpa’s wife, who stands by him against his estranged family. Fahadh Faasil reprises his role as police officer Bhanwar Singh Shekawat, who is still dealing with the humiliation he faced in the first installment, Pushpa: The Rise. The film concludes on a cliffhanger, setting the stage for a third part, Pushpa 3: The Rampage.

Tragic Incident at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre

A day before its theatrical release, a tragic incident occurred at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where the film’s team, including Allu Arjun, had gathered for promotions. The overwhelming crowd led to a fatal mishap, resulting in the death of a woman named Revathi, while her child, Sri Teja, sustained critical injuries.

The situation escalated when authorities intervened, leading to Allu Arjun’s temporary detention. He was later released on bail. The unfortunate event has cast a shadow over the film’s celebratory success.

Despite the tragedy, Pushpa 2: The Rule continues to dominate the box office and is expected to reach a wider audience with its upcoming OTT release.
