Sky Force Box Office Collection Day 1: Akshay Kumar’s Action Drama Opens Strong

The highly anticipated action drama Sky Force, directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, hit theatres this Friday, just ahead of the Republic Day weekend. Starring Akshay Kumar, Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan, and Nimrat Kaur in lead roles, the film made a strong start at the box office, earning over ₹10 crore net in India on its opening day. As per Sacnilk, Sky Force collected approximately ₹10.75 crore net in the domestic market on its debut.

The film’s 2D version recorded an occupancy rate of 10.26% during morning shows, 14.12% in the afternoon, and 22.76% in the evening. Meanwhile, the IMAX 2D version saw an overall occupancy of 14.82%.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under Maddock Films, along with Jyoti Deshpande from Jio Studios, Sky Force is inspired by India's historic attack on Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase during the Indo-Pakistani air war of 1965. The project was announced in 2023, with filming commencing and wrapping up the same year.

Speaking about his role in the film, Veer Pahariya, who made his debut with Sky Force, told ANI, “I think it is a very personal story. It is a very human story. And it is about family. It is about brotherhood. It is about friendship and loyalty. So, that is why I urge everyone to watch this film to learn something new. This is a very serious character,” he said, referring to his portrayal of the late Squadron Leader Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya.

Akshay Kumar also shared his thoughts on his association with patriotic films in an interview with HT City. “I’m so lucky that I get a chance to play so many characters. God has been so kind, I got to play Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva... What else can I ask for? If I’m getting such a lovely opportunity, you think I should give it a miss because some people say, ‘Aap deshbakhti ki film kyon karte ho?’ Kyon na kare!”

The film combines high-octane action sequences with a deeply emotional narrative, making it a compelling watch for audiences across the country. With a promising opening, Sky Force is expected to perform well in the coming days, particularly over the long weekend.
