‘Squid Game’ Season 3 Set to Premiere on Netflix This Week: All You Need to Know

The wait is finally over for fans of Netflix's global sensation Squid Game, as the third and final season is all set to premiere this Friday, June 27. The dystopian survival thriller, which captivated audiences worldwide with its gripping narrative and thought-provoking social commentary, is ready to bring its story to a close.

The final season will continue the story of Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) as he dives deeper into the twisted world of the deadly games. The enigmatic Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) is also returning, with even more secrets to unveil. Wi Ha-joon reprises his role as Jun-ho, whose mission to expose the horrifying truth behind the games has kept fans on edge.

Viewers have been eager for answers following the dramatic cliffhanger in Season 2. Questions about the true identity and motivations of the Front Man, the fate of Player 456, and whether the dark secrets of the island will be exposed, have dominated online discussions ahead of the release.

"The third season of Squid Game will premiere on Netflix this Friday, June 27."

"Fans in the United States will be able to watch the final episodes starting at 3 AM ET (12 AM PT)."

Returning to the cast are familiar faces including Park Sung-hoon, Kang Ha-neul, Kang Ae-shim, Park Gyu-young, Yang Dong-geun, Jo Yu-ri, and Roh Jae-won. The acclaimed creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, who made history as the first Asian to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series at the 74th Primetime Emmys, returns to helm the final chapter as director, producer, and writer.

The show’s first season, released in September 2021, became a cultural phenomenon and one of Netflix’s most-watched series ever, earning six Primetime Emmy Awards. Season 2, which premiered in December last year, received mixed reviews—applauded for strong performances and underlying themes, yet critiqued for its narrative pace.

Adding to the excitement is the return of Korean singer and actor Yim Si-wan as Myung Gi (Player 333). Speaking to HT City, he shared his enthusiasm for the role:

“The first time I saw the character of Myung Gi, he came across as someone who is constantly straddling the line between good and evil... I think it’s fair to say that he may not be purely evil, but rather, a foolish person,” he said.

He also revealed, “I accepted the part without even reading the script, simply because I was a fan of the show.”

As the final season of Squid Game draws near, fans around the globe are preparing for what promises to be a thrilling and emotional conclusion to a modern classic.
