Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal Release First Independent Track 'Chhaila
Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal, two of Bollywood’s most celebrated playback singers, have joined forces for their first independent track titled Chhaila. Released on Monday, the song is part of the music composer duo Salim-Sulaiman’s independent music initiative, Bhoomi 2024. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in their careers, with Shreya Ghoshal rapping for the first time.
Chhaila has been composed by Salim-Sulaiman, penned by lyricist Shraddha Pandit, and produced under the banner of the renowned composer duo. The track has already garnered praise from fans, who flooded the comments section with admiration. One fan commented, “It’s more than just a collaboration—it’s a dream come true,” while another hailed the song as “a historic collaboration.” Other reactions included remarks like “Pure magic” and “Chhaila is an absolute masterpiece.”
The music video accompanying the song features Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal commanding the stage in a stylish studio setting, alongside Salim and other musicians, as they portray a narrative filled with themes of love and rivalry.
Addressing long-standing rumors about competition between the two singers, Shreya Ghoshal, in a past interview with Hindustan Times, remarked, “People derive pleasure from painting an image of women artists in competition, as if it’s some kind of battlefield. Sorry to disappoint everyone, but Sunidhi and I are besties. I wonder why male artists are never pitted against each other.” Sunidhi Chauhan echoed her sentiments, adding, “Our choices may not be alike, but our souls are. That defines our friendship.”
This collaboration adds to their history of working together, having previously delivered hits such as Hum Toh Aise Hai Bhaiya and Iman Ka Asar. The release of Chhaila symbolizes not only their enduring friendship but also their contribution to the evolving landscape of independent Indian music.
