Visa-Free travel to Iran for Indians - But there are 4 conditions
Iran has been giving visa-free access to Indians, but Iranian embassy has got 4 conditions for the visa-free travel.
On Tuesday, they introduced a visa-waiver programme for Indians, visiting the country by air for tourism for a maximum of 15 days.
What are the four conditions?
• Indians with ordinary passport will be allowed to enter Iran without a visa, once every six months.
• The maximum stay should be of 15 days, which cannot be extended.
• The visa abolition is mainly for Indians who enter Iran by air.
• The visa-free entry only applies to Indians visiting Iran for tourism purpose.
Conditions for longer stay -
•Indians who wish for a longer stay, make multiple entries within the the span of six months or need other types of visas must obtain necessary visas from Iranian missions in India.
"This move is aimed at boosting tourism with more visitors from across the world", said Ezzatollah Zarghami, Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts. "It's also to showcase Iran's commitment to global interaction", she said adding further that, "Iran aims to counter negative perceptions and rumours with this move, while combating the phenomenon of 'Iranophobia perpetuated by the global arrogance system'."
