YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia Apologizes for Controversial Remarks, Assures Compliance with Morality Standards

YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, widely known as BeerBiceps, recently faced widespread criticism over controversial remarks made on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent. The comments, which involved a sensitive question about parents and sex, led to public outrage and multiple complaints against him, Mr. Raina, content creator Apoorva Mukhija, and other guests on the show.

In response to the backlash, the National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned Mr. Allahbadia and Ms. Mukhija for questioning. On Friday, NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar strongly condemned the remarks, stating that the "offensive language" used by them was "simply not acceptable."

"Keeping the social impact in mind, they were issued notices. They came before the commission and expressed deep regret. They said they should not have spoken in such a manner and have now submitted a written apology," Ms. Rahatkar told reporters.

She further noted that Mr. Allahbadia specifically assured the panel that his future shows and discussions would uphold respect for women and that he would be mindful not to repeat such mistakes.

The NCW had initially summoned the YouTuber last month. However, citing death threats, Mr. Allahbadia requested a three-week extension, which was granted. The hearing was subsequently scheduled for March 6. Ms. Mukhija also expressed safety concerns and requested to appear virtually, but her request was denied, and she was asked to attend in person.

The controversy stemmed from a moment on the show when Mr. Allahbadia posed an inappropriate question to a contestant: "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?" Following intense criticism, he later apologized, acknowledging that "comedy was not his forte."

Meanwhile, in a recent ruling, the Supreme Court has allowed Mr. Allahbadia to resume The Ranveer Show, his popular podcast. However, the court has mandated that he provide an undertaking to ensure that his content adheres to appropriate moral standards, making it suitable for viewers of all age groups.
