Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Abhimanyu Singh, and Ali Fazal are set to star in "Lahore 1947," a period film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.Aamir Khan confirmed the speculation that Karan Deol, son of Sunny Deol, will be part of the cast of "Lahore 1947."

In a statement, Aamir Khan expressed his delight at Karan Deol's performance, stating, "I am thrilled that Karan Deol has excelled in the pivotal role of Javed. His innate innocence, sincerity, and honesty add immense depth to the character. Karan has dedicated himself, undergone rigorous workshops with ADISHAKTI, rehearsals with Raj, and is giving his all to the role. Javed is a significant and challenging character, and I am confident that under Raj Santoshi's direction, Karan will deliver a remarkable performance." Notably, "Lahore 1947" is produced by Aamir Khan's production house, with Sunny Deol playing the lead role and collaborating with director Rajkumar Santoshi once again.

The film was announced in October last year through an official statement from Aamir Khan's production house, AKP. The statement expressed excitement about their next project, "Lahore, 1947," starring Sunny Deol and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Aamir Khan mentioned his anticipation to collaborate with the immensely talented Sunny and one of his favorite directors, Raj Santoshi, stating that the journey ahead promises to be enriching. The statement concluded by seeking blessings for the project.

Sunny Deol experienced significant success with "Gadar 2" last year, which raked in a remarkable sum at the box office. During one of the success parties for "Gadar 2," all three Khans were in attendance, with Aamir Khan personally congratulating Sunny Deol for the achievement.

Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol share a strong partnership in the Hindi film industry, collaborating on notable films like "Ghayal," "Ghatak," and "Damini." Additionally, Santoshi directed Bobby Deol's debut film, "Barsaat." His most recent directorial venture was "Bad Boy," which featured Mithun Chakraborty's son, Namashi.
