Aamir Khan Turns 60: Sister Nikhat Khan Hegde Pens Heartfelt Letter, Welcomes His New Partner Gauri Spratt

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan celebrated his 60th birthday in the presence of close family and friends. The milestone was made even more special with a heartfelt letter from his elder sister, Nikhat Khan Hegde, who reminisced about their childhood and his journey to stardom.

During the celebrations, Aamir also introduced his new partner, Gauri Spratt, to the media. Expressing her happiness for her brother, Nikhat told ETimes, "I am very happy for both of them and wish them happiness always."

Nikhat’s Nostalgic Letter to Aamir

Looking back on their shared memories, Nikhat recalled Aamir’s early years, their sibling rivalry, and the overwhelming fame that accompanied his success. In an emotional note, she reflected on their childhood, describing his teenage stubbornness and the family’s experiences during his rise in the film industry.

"Can't believe it! Aamir will turn 60 tomorrow!! Still to digest the fact. Haha. All of us are growing old, so obviously, he will grow too. But OMG, when one looks back at all the years gone by, there are so many wonderful memories. It's been a great journey, from us growing up to all the way to the present."

She fondly recalled how Aamir and their brother Faisal walked to school in their uniforms until their grandmother, Amma, insisted that they be driven since the family owned a car. Their father, however, believed in instilling discipline, as he himself had walked miles to attend school.

Nikhat also narrated an incident that highlighted Aamir’s determined nature. "Aamir was quite stubborn as a teenager. I remember we had just learned to drive, and when we found the car free, we both wanted to go out for a drive. We rushed to see who would get in first to drive. Aamir was smart—he got the keys while I got the driver’s seat. We sat for 20-30 minutes, refusing to budge. The driver patiently waited, but eventually, I gave up my seat since, without the keys, I couldn’t do anything. Aamir got to drive first. That is Aamir."

As his career took off, the family felt a deep sense of pride when he started receiving fan calls. However, the constant ringing of the landline—especially at odd hours—became overwhelming. She humorously recalled the early days of Aamir’s stardom, saying, "In the early days of his acting career, we were excited when fans' calls started coming in. It was such a happy feeling, making us all proud of our brother. But as the calls increased, it became overwhelming—especially those in the middle of the night, waking up the whole household. In those days, with only a landline, it was quite annoying!"

Nikhat concluded her note with a heartfelt tribute to her brother. "It's been a wonderful journey, and I put my hand on my heart and say, 'Bhai ho to aisa.' So proud of you, Aamir! May Aamir be blessed with the best always, as he deserves every bit of it."

On the professional front, Aamir Khan is set to make a grand return with Sitaare Zameen Par, a thematic sequel to his critically acclaimed film Taare Zameen Par. Scheduled for a June release, the film will feature Aamir in a unique role as an antagonist, while 10 special children take center stage as the protagonists.
