Deepika Padukone Acknowledges Himesh Reshammiya’s Role in Her Early Career

Before she became a household name with her debut in Om Shanti Om opposite Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone had already made an impression in the entertainment industry — thanks to her appearance in a music video by Himesh Reshammiya. At the time, Reshammiya was riding high on the success of his chart-topping hits, and his track Naam Hai Tera, featuring Deepika, quickly became a nationwide sensation.

The music video not only garnered massive popularity but also marked a significant turning point for Deepika. It was one of her first exposures to the limelight, and it helped her gain early recognition in the industry.

In a recent interview, singer Mika Singh spoke about Himesh Reshammiya’s career and his influence, especially in launching new talent. He expressed that Deepika Padukone should give more credit to Reshammiya for the role he played at the beginning of her journey.

Interestingly, Himesh himself has maintained a humble stance on the matter. Speaking to Pinkvilla in an earlier interview, he said, “We launched many other girls, but they didn’t become Deepika Padukone. So, the whole credit goes to her. She starred in the music video of ‘Naam Hai Tera’, and she was a star from day one. She was fantastic. Her dedication, hard work, and screen presence was good even back then.”

Deepika too has publicly acknowledged Himesh’s contribution. During an appearance on the reality show Indian Idol, where Reshammiya was serving as a judge, she expressed her gratitude and said, “I knew nothing about shooting when I was shortlisted for the music video. I never went to a film set or knew how music videos are shot. Whatever I am doing today, I have learned it while filming the music video. Thank you, sir, for giving me this opportunity. You had faith in me when nobody else did.”

While her journey since then has been marked by numerous accolades and milestones, this early collaboration remains a notable chapter in her rise to stardom.
